Mortlach Centennial Rink

110 Coteau Avenue

The "Rink" was built in 1967 by a group of ambitious volunteers and is still operated today by some dedicated volunteers who see that young and old in our community have a place to skate, play hockey and curl.

The natural skating ice is usually in by late November and lasts until the end of March, weather permitting. Annual fees are $80/family or $40/single. Skating lessons are offered with discounted rates for multiple children. The lessons run from January to March. There are one-time skate fees of Adults- $5 and Students - $3.

The concession, janitorial, day to day operations and fundraising are all done through volunteer efforts. The Mortlach Recreation Board is in charge of Rink activities.  They are always looking for new members.

Hockey Night in Mortlach

For over ten years, from the beginning of January till the ice melts in March, the Rink has become a community gathering place on Friday nights for "Hockey Night in Mortlach".  From 6:00-9:00 pm is general skating for the family and kids with the lunch counter open for burgers, fries, chicken strips, etc.  Most nights there is an adult recreation hockey game starting at 9:00.  Wings are served after 9:00 at the lunch counter.  Upstairs there is a cash bar as well as a good vantage point to watch the skating and hockey game.  There are also tables for those who want to play cards or board games.  All proceeds from these events go to the maintenance and upkeep of the rink (power bills are extremely high in the winter months).
