MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF COUNCIL
OF THE VILLAGE OF MORTLACH
HELD IN THE BRADLEY BUILDING IN MORTLACH, SASKATCHEWAN
ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2016.

 


Present Mayor Dale Domeij, Administrator Faye Campbell
Councilors: Gerry Forbes, Mark Sture, & Bob Drake.

Call to Order A quorum being present, Mayor Dale Domeij called the meeting to order at 9:25 a.m. CST.

Minutes 077-2016 STURE: That the Minutes of the Regular Meeting held on Tuesday,
July 12, 2016 be approved as presented. CARRIED


Accounts 078-2016 FORBES: That we approve the report of financial accounts and
payment of the July/August/Sept 2016 accounts in the amount of
$116,574.70 of cheques #1700 - 1767. CARRIED
Water Report 079-2016 DRAKE: That the water report for July & August/16 be approved as
presented. CARRIED

Correspondence The following correspondence was presented:
Hall repairs
Fireworks
Red Bin
Dog attack
Crime prevention guide


Old Business

Trees – Lots 30-32 Block 11 Plan R-3833
080-2016 STURE: That we pay Steve Zacker in the amount of $4,500.00 for the removal of 10 Village trees CARRIED

b. Hiring
081-2016 FORBES: That the Village of Mortlach hire Chad Wager for $12.00 per hour to help Village foreman Paul Entz with the installation of the new water meters into homes. CARRIED



New Business
1. Gas station
082-2016 STURE: The Council for the Village of Mortlach does not approve of a gas station to be built on Lots 30-32 Block 14 PlanL-1566 as we see this as a poor location. CARRIED

2. Hamon Moore Scholarship
083-2016 FORBES: That we change the Hamon Moore scholarship from two boys and two girls in the event that only three girls and one boy or three boys and one girl apply for the scholarship for continuing education. If there should be more than four candidates for the scholarship we shall choose based on grade scores. CARRIED

3. Tree planting project
084-2016 FORBES: That we approve of the location of the trees being planted on village property from the Tree Canada Grant. CARRIED

4. Election
085-2016 DRAKE: That the following election procedures be implemented for
the Fall Election of Council:
Nomination Day – September 21, 2016
Advance Poll – October 18, 2016
Date of Election – October 26, 2016
Poll Station – Bradley Building, Mortlach
Returning Officer – Faye Campbell CARRIED

6. Franklyn's Eatery – Liquor license
087-2016 STURE: That we allow the owners of the Franklyn's restaurant to serve alcohol on the front patio that is partially on village property.
CARRIED

7. Utility Bill onto Taxes – Lots 13-14 Block 21 Plan P-5228
088-2016 FORBES: That we allow the owners of the above property to move the arrears of the utility bill to their tax bill. CARRIED


Next Reg. 075-2016 STURE: That the next regular meeting of council be held at 9:00am
Meeting CST on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 in the Bradley Building in the
Village of Mortlach. CARRIED
